Keynote Speaker:
Dennis R. Shelden
Chief Technology Officer
Gehry Technologies
Dennis R. Shelden is a founder and Chief Technology Officer of Gehry Technologies, a building industry technology company formed in 2001 by the research and development team of Frank Gehry Partners.
He joined Gehry Partners in 1997 and became director of the firm's computation efforts in 2000, where he was responsible for the management and strategic direction of the firm's technology efforts. Prior to joining Gehry Partners, he performed structural engineering, energy systems and technology development work at firms including Ove Arup & Partners, Consultants' Computation Bureau and Cyra Systems.
Dr. Shelden lectures and conducts research in building industry process advancement and in design computation and cognition, and has been a visiting faculty member at the Southern California Institute of Architecture and MIT. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design, a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering, and a Ph. D. in Computation and Architectural Design from MIT.

George has been with the Somfy Group for 17 years. Headquartered in
France, with 60 business units worldwide, Somfy is the world leader in
electric drives and control systems for dynamic window treatments and
building openings. During his term, George has been the Sales Manager in
Canada, Marketing Director for North America and Commercial Business
Development Manager for NA. He currently manages the new Commercial
Specifications business unit based in Toronto.
George's activities have taken him throughout the world with Somfy. He
has been involved in numerous projects with International window
treatment specialists, lighting and building automation firms.George has
been a member of CABA (Continental Automated Building Association) since
1995 and participates in the IIBC (Intelligent & Integrated Bldg
Committee) of CABA.
George has a Commerce degree from Concordia University in Montreal and
continues to work with their Building Sciences faculty in the research
of leading edge lighting/window treatment control systems. He also is
active in the Canadian Solar Research network and the Net-Zero Energy
initiative for new homes.

AC-DC power supplies in the datacom, telecom, and medical markets. Frank
was instrumental in expanding and managing a network of -manufacturer's

Ben attended Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a BS in
Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of IFMA, 7x24, ASHRAE, BCA,

Jay Hendrix

Jay Hendrix is Manager of Wireless Solutions for Siemens Building
Technologies, Buffalo Grove, Illinois. He has over 20 years experience
in controls installation, technical integration and product management.
Prior to joining the wireless team Jay was responsible for leading the
product management of integrated solutions and applications to help
customers manage their buildings more efficiently as well as reduce
operating expenses. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical
Engineering Technology from Purdue University and a Master's of Business
Administration from DePaul University.
Jay also serves on ASHRAE SGPC 13
technical committee for Specifying DDC systems and has authored and
contributed on articles related to wireless and integrated building
systems.

James Carlini

James Carlini is President of Carlini & Associates, Inc., a strategic international management consulting firm in East Dundee, IL that provides executive advising and expert witness services in both civil and federal court for major organizations on competitive strategies, technology procurement, and mission critical networks.
He has appeared on television to discuss topics including municipal broadband initiatives (cable, wireless and fiber optics) for global economic competitiveness, Network Security, Intelligent Buildings, stock exchange reliability issues, E911 and the impact of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
He pioneered the concept of Measuring Building Intelligence in 1985 and published various papers on the topic in Real Estate Review, Commercial Renovation and even a chapter in Johnson Controls' INTELLIGENT BUILDING SOURCEBOOK (Prentice-Hall 1988) after developing the Carlini Building Intelligence Test (CBI Test). This test was used in 1986 to compare intelligent amenities in downtown office buildings in Seattle.
He was Chairman of the Definitions Committee of the Intelligent Buildings Institute in Washington, D.C. from 1986-1988.
His consulting experience includes being Consultant to the Mayor's Office for the preliminary and conceptual design of the City of Chicago's 911 Center (which has been ranked #1 in the country by the Homeland Security Agency) as well as advising the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Sanwa Bank, AT&T, SPRINT, JVC, GLOBEX, and the Du Page National Technology Park (an 800-acre development).
He has taught at Northwestern University since 1986 in both the Executive Masters Program for Communication Systems and Strategy Management as well as the undergraduate curriculum as an adjunct professor.
Mr. Carlini is an elected official in Illinois and also serves on the Fox Valley Regional Cable Commission.He is also an editorial columnist for the Midwest Technology Online News, Wisconsin Technology News, and for COMPLINET, an online Compliance and Regulatory Newsletter.

Guy Warner is the founder and CEO of Pareto Energy. Trained as a
financial economist, Mr. Warner worked for
7 years with the Washington
National Tax Service of Price Waterhouse, before founding his own
company in 1990.
Mr. Warner has worked on more than 100 energy and financial planning
engagements and provided financial and strategic planning advice to a
number of electric and gas utilities in the United States, Europe and
South America. He has served as an economic and energy expert before
federal courts and state public utility commissions.
Since 1995, Mr. Warner has concentrated his work on developing new
energy efficiency, renewable energy and on-site power projects. He has
worked on more than twenty five such projects in North, Central and
South America.

Jim Lewis

Homes and Buildings.
Jim has extensive experience in metering, data acquisition and

David Rubin

David Rubin is the vice president of sales and marketing for Dallas-based Lighting Science Group Corporation (LSGC), a developer of LED lighting solutions. Before joining LSGC, Mr. Rubin served as vice president of national accounts at Walls Industries where he led the domestic and international account teams servicing Wal-Mart and Home Depot.
Mr. Rubin also served as a sales executive for several early stage technology firms including serving as vice president of sales of Trinity Industry's e-Venture division. He began his career as a legislative aid at the State Capital in Austin, Texas.
Mr. Rubin has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995 and is currently pursing a MBA at the University of Texas at Dallas where he will graduate in May 2007. He is an active member of his community and currently serves as a board member on the Grand South Park TIF District.

Thomas Russo

Mr. Russo's broad professional experience in residential and commercial
development and construction, coupled with his education in information
technology, has provided Akridge with innovative services to its internal

Most notable is his design of a wireless webbased
camera, which when linked to project websites for construction
monitoring, allows investors and project managers to observe their asset
while under construction. This innovation has proven integral in preventing
unnecessary construction-related expenses (legal and otherwise), as it
provides visual evidence of a construction project's progress.

Peter M. Schwartz

Originally born in Chicago, Ill., Peter Schwartz, with more than 28 years' experience in the energy and utility industries, is an internationally recognized expert in energy efficiency and building technologies. His energy consulting firm, Peter Schwartz & Associates, LLC, specializes in energy infrastructure, strategic planning, research and project development.
He is the former Founding Board President and Senior Program Director with the New Buildings Institute, promoting advanced building energy technologies, energy codes, standards and design guidelines.
Prior to NBI, Mr. Schwartz was Director of Business Analysis for LAS & Associates, an energy-consulting corporation focusing on integrated infrastructure investments. He managed demand-side and supply-side energy projects for large, multi-facility institutional clients including: universities, San Francisco International Airport and the Navy Public Works Center-San Diego.
Total project value exceeded $500 million.
Prior to LAS, he was Director of Business Energy Management and a Senior Program Manager with PG&E's $76 million Commercial Energy Efficiency Programs. Mr. Schwartz also worked as a Senior Marketing Engineer for the Pacific Energy Center, where he educated more than 3,000 design professionals, building developers, facility managers and contractors on energy-efficient technologies and building design.
He received his bachelor's degree in environmental physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, specializing in technology assessment, energy policy and environmental politics, and his master's degree in environmental planning from Arizona State University, specializing in building energy technology and analysis.

Alexandra Sullivan
Program Engineer
US Environmental Protection Agency
Alexandra Sullivan is a program engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the ENERGY STAR Program for commercial buildings. She oversees the development and maintenance of the national energy performance rating system, which expresses the performance of commercial buildings on a scale of 1-to-100.
The rating system is housed within EPA's Portfolio Manager, an online tool that allows users to enter and track energy and water consumption in commercial buildings. Portfolio Manager and the national energy performance rating system are widely used to evaluate the performance of a diverse group of commercial buildings including offices, schools, supermarkets, hospitals, and hotels.
Alexandra has a BS in chemical engineering from Brown University and professional experience in soil and groundwater remediation systems. She began work at the EPA in 2005, after completing an MPA in environmental policy at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. At ENERGY STAR, she coordinates statistical analyses and evaluates measures of energy performance in order to update and expand the technical capabilities of Portfolio Manager.

Tim Enwall

Tim Enwall is the founder and COO of Tendril (www.tendrilinc.com), which provides the first network operations software for building, deploying and operating ZigBee wireless sensor networks.
Enwall received his BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley and has 19 years of high-tech business management experience. Prior to founding Tendril, Enwall served as Vice President, Research Area Director at Gartner, Inc. and he founded Solista, a technology advisory firm that was acquired by Gartner. He was also the founder and board member of Intellocity, an interactive television system software firm which is now part of OpenTV.
He has also held management roles at technology companies such as Apple Computer, Lockheed Martin, InfoNow and Requisite Technology. Enwall is also currently on the Board of Directors of SkyeTek, an embedded RFID reader company.

Bennet Levine

At Contemporary Controls he is currently assisting in the development of many leading-edge networking and control products.
He is currently a member of the ODVA EtherNet/IP Infrastructure Task Force and has written many articles on the use of Ethernet in control systems for various trade magazines. Bennet received a BSSE degree from Southern Illinois University.

Tony Delgado

Tony Delgado is responsible for Ember's product marketing. Prior to this
role, he was responsible for all corporate partnership and sales
activities in Asia. These activities included working directly with
customers and regional distributors, as well as promoting the company
and the Zigbee Alliance in Asia.
Previously, Delgado was a Boston-based associate at Techfarm Ventures, a
Silicon Valley venture capital firm and incubator. While at Techfarm, he
reviewed corporate business plans and worked with start-up companies
pursuing venture capital.
Delgado also managed some of the firm's newest
investments.
Before joining Techfarm, he was the business development manager for
N*Able Technologies, a fabless semiconductor company that developed
security co-processor chips for internet-based financial transactions.
Delgado earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from the
Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.

Kevin Fuller

Before joining the IDS team, Kevin spent 15 years working for vendors of relational database and related technologies in both marketing and customer support roles where he developed a strong understanding of how businesses used data to their advantage. He started his career in programming and systems management roles after graduating with a degree in mathematics from the University of New Hampshire.

He is an Adjunct Professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Graduate Studies. Terry has written numerous articles for trade and technical publications.
Contributions include an Article in the January 2003 issue of the ASHRAE Journal entitled “Interoperability: Present Trends, Future Directions”, another in the September 2001 issue of Today's Facility Manager entitled "Interoperability: Key Issues and Guidelines for FMs to Follow" and another, "Optimizing the Benefits of Building Systems Integration" in a recent issue of The RSES Journal (Refrigeration Systems Engineering & Service).
He is also the author of the Controls chapter in both the HVAC Systems Handbook and the HVAC Systems Maintenance and Operations Handbook both published by McGraw/Hill.

Doug Sandberg

Mr. Doug Sandberg has served in various segments of the electrical
industry for 40 years. Until 1980, he held duties of journeyman
electrician primarily in heavy industry, including Master A at E.I.
DuPont and Lead Journeyman at Reynolds Metals.
In 1980, Doug began his career in manufacturer's field service. He
worked for KW Control Systems, the North American sales and service
representative for Piller GMBH of Germany, in a variety of positions
with increasing responsibility. These included Field Service Engineer,
National Field Service Manager and AVP Service.
In 1993, he embarked on the challenge of developing a true field service
operation for ASCO Power Technologies (ASCO). He currently serves as
Director of U.S. Field Sales & Service Operations for ASCO Services
Inc., the field service arm of ASCO.
Doug has written many articles and white papers during his career and
has contributed content to several industry books. He has served as a
company representative to 7x24 (the leading information exchange for
data centers) for many years and currently serves as a Director of 7x24
New York Metro Chapter and the National 7x24 organization. He also
serves on various industry councils.

Mc Gowan is an author and has published 5 books including “Direct Digital Control” on Fairmont Press and Prentice Hall. He is under contract for a new book called “Building Automation Online” in 2006.
Mc Gowan has published over 125 articles. He is Editor of the Energy Online series of Energy User News (EUN). He sits on the Technical Advisory Boards of: Engineered Systems, Energy User News, and CABA’s I Homes & Buildings. He is a Contributing Editor with WWW.Automatedbuildings.com, he sits on Builconn’s Advisory Council and the Gridwise Architecture Council of the US Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity and Energy Assurance.
Mc Gowan is a regular conference speaker and has taught seminars on DDC throughout the US, Europe and in Southeast Asia sponsored by the Association of Energy Engineers and Automatedbuildings.com. He also teaches Online seminars including “Real-time System Integration” and “Next Generation DDC Open Systems”.

Scott Muench has been in the controls industry for over 15 years. Scott brings to Tridium years of field experience and expertise from fulfilling the various SI roles of applications engineer, technical support specialist and product trainer.
After joining Tridium in 2001 he was involved in delivering the Technical Certification Course and eventually stepped up as manager of Technical Services. Scott is now heading up a new Technical Sales Support group, to better serve our OEM and channel partners. Scott is a past president of ASHRAE and attended Clarkson University for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Ed Merwin has over 28 years of experience in the controls industry. He was with Honeywell for 25 years and held positions in field operations, sales, marketing, and management. Ed joined Tridium, Inc. in 2001 as the Marketing Manager for Building Automation Systems and is currently the Director of Field Sales in charge of Tridium's Systems Integration Channel.
He works with key end users, consulting engineers, and system integrators on a daily basis, focusing on open systems issues utilizing multiple protocols and vendors. Ed has developed several open systems training seminars and makes industry presentations on a regular basis. Ed is a member of ASHRAE and has a B.S. in Engineering Technology from Old Dominion University.

Chris Hollinger

Chris Hollinger joined Siemens Corporation in 1995 as a project manager after obtaining an MBA from the University of Illinois. Over the last nine years he has worked with the systems integration group on standard protocols, OPC, BACnet and lighting control.
Hollinger works with the BACnet testing laboratory, is a member of BACnet International, works with the marketing group and is heavily involved in ASHRAE and ISA.

Ron Poskevich

Ron Poskevich, General Manager of Lumisys, has more than 15 years of experience in the lighting control and building automation industry.
Prior to joining Lumisys Ron worked for Siemens Energy and Automation as Market Manager, Power Management Technologies and was involved with ABSIC (Advanced Building Systems Integration Consortium) projects; The Robert L. Preger Intelligent Workplace at Carnegie Mellon University and The Adaptable Workplace Laboratory at General Services Administration Headquarters.
Ron also worked for Lithonia Lighting for seven years.
At Lumisys, Ron lead the development of best practices for integrated lighting control systems design that are changing the way lighting control is delivered and maintained. Ron also works with the BACnet International marketing committee.

Tim Duggan

Tim has twenty years experience with database management and statistics.
Current clients include PCA, SIA, CABA, Armstrong and Firestone Building
Products. Recent projects include developing a forecasting model for the
EPA relative to diesel emissions as well as designing an interactive
dashboard for building product manufacturers to monitor specification
influence in the product marketplace.
Formerly an Account Executive with
RCD, Mr. Duggan was responsible for integrating project data into
building product manufacturers' business and strategic planning. He is a
former executive and owner of Brown's Letters Inc., a construction data
service firm. Mr. Duggan earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering
at New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Mr. Kunst brings over 15 years of telecommunications experience to MobileAccess Networks. Mr. Kunst was Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for Lucent's metroMSX product family. The metroMSX platform was developed by Chromatis Networks where Mr. Kunst, as Director of Product Management, was instrumental in the acquisition of Chromatis for $4.75B.

Tom Hicks

U.S. Green Building Council
Tom Hicks joined the U.S. Green Building Council in November 2004 after
a distinguished career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Tom
oversees the development and implementation of all LEED rating systems.
Prior to joining USGBC, Tom spent nine years at the U.S.
Environmental
Protection Agency as a Senior Program Manager within the Energy Star for
Buildings program.
Tom was the principal architect and program manager
of the Energy Star commercial building rating system, the nation's
largest and best-known energy efficiency initiative. Energy Star has
been utilized to assess the energy performance of over 30,000 buildings
totaling over 5 billion square feet of floor space nationally.
Prior to the EPA, Tom worked with the U.S. Navy, where he formed the
energy efficiency program for the U.S. Navy Public Works Center in
Washington. This program performed energy audits for over 15 million
square feet of floor space and completed lighting retrofits and energy
efficiency upgrades totaling more than $50 million in value.
Tom has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Clark School of
Engineering at the University of Maryland. Currently, he is working
toward his Master's degree in Engineering Management from the George
Washington University.

Tom Lohner

Mr. Lohner has 25 years of experience in building systems engineering and building technology. Tom specializes in the design and build of building mechanical systems, building automation and enterprise facility management systems.
Mr. Lohner is registered professional engineer in 10 states and holds a Masters Degree in Building Energy Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Tom is the current Chairman for the CABA Integrated and Intelligent Building Council (IIBC) and has been a guest speaker at numerous energy and facility management conferences such as Realcomm, National Facility Management & Technology, The TFM show and others. Currently, Mr. Lohner is Branch Manager for Teng's office located in Glen Allen, Virginia and is a managing principal for all Teng Solutions projects nationally.
